Timespan at Helmsdale has a new exhibition called We Move As A Murmuration opening on Saturday March 23 which explores the entangled relationships between humans and birds.

The exhibition is a group show and draws inspiration from bird flocks to propose approaches of kinship, liberation, and collective care to address environmental issues and social justice.

We Move As A Murmuration brings to the Highlands the work of local and international artists Adrienne Maree Brown, Chuan Lun Wu, Disarming Design from Palestine, Edwyn Collins, Hanna Tuulikki, J. Drew Lanham, Joan Ross, Khaled Jarrar, Mamadou Tall Diedhiou, Penny Woodley, Petrit Halilaj, Sethembile Msezane, and Un/Nature.

Connecting struggles of local scale, with a focus on the Scottish Highlands heavily impacted by the recent break of bird flu, to global issues of climate change, We Move As A Murmuration looks at the oppression, of nature under capitalist forces.

By moving as a murmuration, the exhibition advocates for the liberation of all, and invites collective action to overcome the separation between humans and nature.

On March 23 from 5pm there will be an opening reception with the Made in Helmsdale Choir performing and a dinner at 7pm.

The exhibition continues from March 24 until September 30. Timespan is at Dunrobin St in Helmsdale.
