Cash prizes worth £400 are up for grabs next month when an anticipated 14 acts take to the stage at Thurso High School for this year’s Thurso’s Got Talent.

Thurso Community Development Trust (TCDT) is accepting applications from groups, organisations, bands or individuals wishing to compete on June 8.

Trust Treasurer Carol Paterson says: “We’re really excited to be holding this event. It builds community spirit and gives a showcase to our wonderful Thurso talent.”

Organisers says participants will “wow the audience”, who will then vote for their favourite, crowning them the winner of the evening in “true audience participation style”.

They add that they are thrilled that so many individuals, groups and businesses have supported the event so far, offering time, advice and expertise to ensure its success.

The event – sponsored by AGM Batteries and Nuvia – will also feature a raffle, refreshments and a lucky programme draw.

Tracey Taylor, TCDT chair, said: “We have a really exciting night planned where Thurso’s talent is celebrated and it’s heart-warming to see the support the event has received so far.

“Proceeds go towards general fundraising for the trust, all of which is channelled back to our key aim of making Thurso a better place to live, work and visit for all.”

The winning contestant will receive £250, £100 will go to second place and £50 will be awarded to third.

Winners will also be invited to perform at the annual Midsummer Madness community event taking place in Thurso this year.

To enter, visit the TCDT website at www.thursocdt.co.uk for an application form.

Forms can be returned via email or by post.

Tickets are available from Macbeath jewellers in Thurso for £8 and £5 concessions.
