Plans for the Dunbar have been put on hold

PLANS to close the inpatient ward at the Dunbar Hospital in Thurso and reduce the opening hours at the primary care emergency centre have been deferred.

That was agreed at today’s (Tuesday) meeting of the North Highland Community Health Partnership committee in Thurso following a number of concerns which were raised by members.

It was decided to look again at five key issues and report back to the next CHP meeting.

The issues include the vision for the Dunbar Hospital, the provision of palliative care in Thurso, the opening hours for the primary care emergency centre, the workforce transition plan and transport.

See tomorrow’s Caithness Courier for more details.
