A Thurso woman has admitted carrying out an assault with a glass at her home.

Estelle Sutherland had denied the charge but made a last-minute change of plea at Wick Sheriff Court on Monday and admitted the attack on indictment.

The 36-year-old struck Michelle Ross in her face with a glass to her injury and permanent disfigurement, after hitting her with a wet mop and engaging in a fight with her. The incident occurred at the accused's home in Royal Terrace, on June 7, 2022.

Sheriff David Harvie continued the case until July 10 when he will consider a background report and restriction of liberty assessment and hear details of the assault before passing sentence.

Fiscal Depute, Alison Young, accepted a plea of not guilty to an additional charge that Sutherland behaved in a threatening or abusive manner and uttered derogatory remarks at Ms Ross.
