It’s all hands on deck in the latest episode of The Highland Vet when Woody, a ragdoll cat is rushed into the small animal wing of the practice after being hit by a truck.

Practice director Guy Gordon and his team have to act quick to find out the full extent of the much-loved pet's injuries. Woody divides his time between two households, and has come seriously close to losing one of his nine lives after crossing the road between them. Guy is concerned that the cat has suffered more than just a shattered jaw.

Out on a farm, vet Ken Wilson performs major surgery on a young cow with a badly broken toe. If the toe is injured beyond repair, the kindest and most practical option may be amputation.

At the small animal wing of the practice, vet Ewan Penny has both an emergency and a mystery on his hands when Stan, an ex-racing greyhound falls inexplicably ill after a sprint around the garden.

Stan and his family are newcomers to Caithness, and it’s feared the dog has eaten something poisonous while exploring his new surroundings. The race is on for Ewan to rid him of the toxins before it’s too late.

And equine vet Tom Southall gets the low down on a petite Welsh pony, with a nasty looking tumour – the size of a plum – in a rather sensitive place. It means Tom has to access a tricky area on this pint-sized horse, to nip Rupert’s uncomfortable little problem in the bud.
