Thurso Tesco staff get on their bikes to raise over £1300 for charity

STAFF at the Tesco supermarket in Thurso got on their bikes to raise just over £1300 for a north charity. They took part in an initiative with Moray Firth Radio (MFR) to raise the money for the station's Cash for Kids.

A spokeswoman for the store said: "We held a 80s dress-down for staff, we played 80s music all day. We also sold raffle tickets with so many of our prizes being donated by local businesses. The generosity we have been shown for our fund-raising has been amazing. We can not thank everyone enough.

"We also had a guess how many sweets are in the jar competition while in the foyer, along with the raffles, we had two exercise bikes where staff competed with each other to see who could claim gold. Our victorious winner was Dylan Smith who smashed it with 38 kilometres, 2nd place went to Lee Murray and 3rd place was taken by Craig Kennedy. "

She added: "We even got the store manager Paul Budd and our area manager on bikes. All in all it was a amazing day for such an amazing charity. Our current fundraising told is just over £1300, not bad considering we set the target at £500. We can't thank our customers enough for helping us achieve such an amazing total."
