Thurso Rotary Club hosts storm delayed get-together for Burns celebration

Thurso Rotary Club finally held their annual Burn’s Supper after having to postpone their more timely event because of the threat of storm Eowyn.

More than 60 guests attended the rescheduled event at the Pentland Hotel last Saturday.

At the belated Burns event are (back, from left) Mark BW Davenport, Mark Moodie and Kevin Sutherland with (front) Mark H Davenport, Jennifer Davenport and Louise Coghill.

For Thurso Rotary Club president Jennifer Davenport it was also a family affair as she was joined, all the way from Ayrshire, the land o’ Burns, by her dad Mark, who addressed the haggis, and her brother, who is also called Mark, who gave The Immortal Memory.

The Toast To The Lassies was given with great wit and humour by Rotary past president Kevin Sutherland. The Reply from the Lassies was given online by Jacqui Barclay as she could not make the rescheduled event.

Music was provided by piper Mark Moodie and David Broughton on the fiddle.

The evening was sponsored by M2 Procurement & Commercial Services and raised much welcome funds for local and Rotary charities.
