ESSENTIAL carriageway maintenance in Thurso from the junction with Castle Street to the junction of the A9 Trunk Road with the A836 is on schedule to start next Monday.

Scotland TranServ, acting on behalf of Transport Scotland started work on the road on Monday, carrying out work five days a week 8am to 6pm on Monday, October 15.

The overall construction duration of the project is estimated to take approximately 2 weeks and in order to carry out the resurfacing Works the Trunk Road will be reduced to one lane with a 10 mph convoy system in operation to allow safe passage through the works.

Scotland TranServ have stated that it will work hard to ensure that minimal disruption is caused to vehicles, pedestrians and businesses.

A spokesman said: "Every attempt will be made, as far as possible, to ensure access arrangements to business premises, residential properties and the ferry are maintained throughout the construction period.

"To reduce disruption the works will be constructed in a controlled manner, with good communication between affected parties."
