THE Thurso branch of the RNLI is looking for a new chairman as well as volunteers to become part of its fund-raising committee.

The committee usually meets once a month – although not during the coronavirus pandemic – and looks at ways of raising money and works with other volunteers and crew members. The RNLI survives solely on donations and fund-raising.

A spokesman said: "Unfortunately, due to the devastating loss of RNLI stalwart Pierre Bale, we are also looking for a chairperson."

He added: "There will be an RNLI stand at the Thurso harbour day on Saturday, September 11. If you think you can help, please come along and speak to the crew and meet other volunteers. You can also email thurso@rnli.org.uk. for more details."
