Thurso Players get 'All Together Now' for global event
A Thurso-based drama group is preparing for a musical revue with a "fantastic selection of songs" that will suit all ages.
Music Theatre International’s "All Together Now!" is a global event celebrating local theatre performances and will take place over November 12–13.
The songs featured in this brand new musical revue are from shows including Rent, Les Misérables, Into the Woods, Hairspray, Mamma Mia! and many more.
The Mill Theatre at Millbank Road is the stage for Thurso Players to join thousands of theatrical organisations around the globe with their own local production for the event. Theatrical licensor Music Theatre International (MTI) created this revue for theatres across the globe to use as a local fundraising event performed over the same weekend of November 12, 2021.
All Together Now! features songs from MTI’s catalogue of musicals including Annie; Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; Come From Away; Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins; Disney’s Beauty and the Beast; Fiddler on the Roof; Godspell; Guys and Dolls; Hairspray; Into the Woods; Les Misérables; Little Shop of Horrors; Mamma Mia!; Matilda; My Fair Lady; Once on This Island; Rent; Waitress and many more. Thurso Players have chosen a selection from this list to "delight and entertain audiences of all ages".
MTI’s president and CEO, Drew Cohen stated: “MTI’s All Together Now! is about bringing people back to the theatre, whether as audience members or cast, crew and musicians. The revue features songs from the world’s most iconic musicals, so there is definitely something for everyone to enjoy. Our goal with this worldwide event is for organisations to provide hope, inspiration and excitement to their communities through the transformative power of musical theatre."
Thurso Players members are excited to be back in the Mill and have chosen a programme of songs from the large selection available from MTI, many of which are rarely available to small organisations, such as numbers from Hairspray, Les Misérables, Mamma Mia! and Rent.

“We’ll be all enjoying being back in the theatre and can’t wait to perform in front of an audience again,” said musical director Martin Shepherd.
All Together Now! follows on from the juniors’ workshop and Mill Theatre open day held by Thurso Players in September. This post-lockdown activity was supported by the Caithness and North Sutherland Fund, and Watten Wind Farm Trust administered by Foundation Scotland – whose funding helped with the installation of a display positioned in the Mill Theatre lounge. Additional funding for this, and the acquisition of a camera and laptop, has also recently been secured from the RWE Bad a Cheo Wind Farm Community Fund (Halkirk) administered by Foundation Scotland.
