In response to a request from Police Scotland, Thurso RNLI Lifeboat, The Taylors, was launched at 4.20pm yesterday (January 5), to assist in the search for a missing person in the Dunnet Head area.

The lifeboat quickly made its way to the area and commenced a coastline search covering the shoreline from Ham to Murkle. A Coastguard Search and Rescue helicopter from Inverness and three local Coastguard teams plus Police Scotland were also involved in the search. Thurso Lifeboat was stood down at 7.30pm and returned to Scrabster.
