The Thurso Rotary Club annual speechmaking competition heard a wide and diverse range of subjects elicited to a well-entertained audience by Thurso High School students.

The topics ranged from ‘Cats’, ‘Vampires’ and ‘Cancel Culture’ to ‘Gender Equality’, ‘David Attenborough’ and ‘Disappearing Languages’.

All students gave clear, convincing points to further their case to an appreciative audience.

The overall winner was Ola Oman with the topic ‘Cancel Culture’ and the Ronnie Johnstone Memorial Shield for content went to Beth Trueman with her subject ‘Gender Equality’.
