A driver who failed to report an accident has been fined £200.

David Jones also incurred five penalty points after he admitted the offence at Wick Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

The 62-year-old ran into the back of a learner driver's vehicle in Castlegreen Road, Thurso, on July 26.

Jones, of Marr Terrace, Thurso, drove away following a disagreement over the extent of the damage involved to both vehicles and neglected to contact the police within the regulation 24-hour period.

The five points imposed bring the number of points on the accused's licence to eight.
