Police stopped a driver after discovering that his insurance didn't cover the delivery of hot food orders.

Matthew Williams admitted not having commercial insurance and was fined £200 at Wick Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

The 33-year-old of St Andrew's Drive, Mount Vernon, Thurso, pleaded guilty and appealed to Sheriff David Sutherland not to disqualify him as he would be unable to work.

The offence occurred in the town's St Magnus Road, on December 8, last year.

The sheriff, who took Williams' early plea into account, imposed six penalty points in addition to the fine.
