Thurso Cinema feels the force of Star Wars ticket demand
STAR Wars is on course to be the biggest selling movie in the history of Thurso cinema with hundreds of tickets already sold in advance of Thursday's premiere.
More than 400 tickets have been sold by Merlin Cinema for the opening week of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which is being screened five times a day at the Ormlie Road complex.
Management, who have also worked under previous owners in the cinema, say they have not experienced demand for a film like it.
General manager Sam Jappy yesterday revealed some of its Star Wars screenings over the first three days were already 75 per cent full and predicted by tonight some shows would be sold out.
“This is on course to be the biggest grossing film ever shown in Thurso,” he said.

“It is definitely going to be the biggest opening weekend for the cinema in Thurso.
“The Hobbit films were a huge success last Christmas and at the beginning of the year, but Star Wars is on course to sell 50 per cent more tickets than them.”
