Thurso child minding service gets glowing report from Care Inspectorate





A CHILD care service in Thurso has received a glowing report from the Care Inspectorate following an unannounced visit last month.

Kiddie Care Child Minding, which is registered for a maximum of eight children, is based in a semi-detached property in the town.

The report said the children "benefited from a high-quality play and learning environment, both indoors and outdoors. They were provided with play and learning opportunities that impacted positively on their development, health, wellbeing and happiness.

The childminder's home offered a homely and welcoming environment."

The quality of care and support and the quality of the environment was described as very good with management and leadership said to be good.

The report found:

• Children experienced warm, nurturing care in a home from home environment.

• Children followed their interests and led their own play and learning.

• High quality interactions supported children to achieve.

• Children's ideas and views were listened to, and their choices respected.

But it added: "The childminder was committed to her professional development and should continue to access appropriate training and keep up to date with best practice guidance. We suggested that the childminder recorded

changes to the service as they occurred to support self evaluation and continuous improvement."
