Residents and staff at a care home in Thurso were all shook up when the King of Rock ’n’ Roll paid a visit.
A day of music, fun and dancing at Pentland View marked what would have been Elvis Presley’s 89th birthday.
Activities coordinator Jeanine Sinclair said: “Music is such an incredible way to connect with each other, and Elvis has played a very big part in many of our residents’ lives.
"From a resident who we learned wore a locket with Elvis’s photo in it in her youth, to one who currently has an Elvis blanket on her bed and listens to his music daily, residents have many happy memories attached to Elvis’s music and films.”
The visiting Elvis was happy to pose for photos and have a laugh with the residents. He also mixed and delivered Blue Hawaii mocktails.
Those in the main lounge enjoyed their mocktails while watching Elvis's 1961 film Blue Hawaii and nibbling on pineapple and cheese, as well as enjoying a selection of tasty treats cooked by the chef for the day.
Jeanine added: "No day in celebration of the King would have been complete without a song and a dance, which was great fun. Residents also enjoyed an Elvis magazine and a quiz about his life and career."
Margaret Gardner, one of the residents, said: “I love Elvis – everything about him.”
She remembered dancing to his music with her children when they were small.
