Thurso boy to star in diabetes video
A FAR north youngster is to feature in a video with top-flight footballer Scott Allan to help highlight that diabetes need be no bar to playing sport.
Both Luke Wilson and the Celtic star have the condition but it has not stopped them living very active lives.
The Thurso nine-year-old earlier this month travelled to Glasgow to join a group of children from across Scotland with type 1 diabetes to meet and play football with Allan.
The youngsters took part in a coaching session and played games at the Toryglen Centre in Glasgow before touring the nearby Hampden Museum.
The video is being released to coincide with next week’s Diabetes Week UK to raise awareness of the disease and set the record straight about what it’s really like to live with the condition.

Liuke said: “I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was six but it doesn’t stop me from doing anything.
“I play sport all the time, especially football. I just have to check my blood sugar and maybe take extra food or insulin to make sure that my levels are ok."
Luke, a primary 6 pupil at Miller Academy, plays for youth side Thurso United and is a member of the Premier Football Coaching Club.
He added: “If someone said to me that I couldn’t play sport because I have type 1 diabetes I would say, ‘Yes, I can – just look at Scott Allan".
