Thurso glass artist Ian Pearson has been creating a range of glass puffins in readiness for his trip to a prestigious gathering in the USA.

He has been invited to demonstrate his skills as part of the American Scientific Glassblowers Society Symposium being held at Corning Museum of Glass in New York state – the the largest museum of its kind devoted to glass.

Ian said: “I thought I would take some puffins with me for company and they will be auctioned off for charity at the end of the symposium.

“This is my third trip to Corning and it’s a wonderful mecca for all glass enthusiasts.”

Two of the glassblowers working at the museum will in August be travelling to North Lands Creative in Lybster to teach.
