Garage in Thrumster destroyed in blaze

A GARAGE was destroyed by fire as emergency services were called out to tackle a blaze on the outskirts of Thrumster.

Firefighters from Thurso and Wick took over an hour to extinguish the blaze at Sarclet which was reported at 8.42am on Wednesday.

They were unable to prevent the garage, which measured 20 metres by 10, being burned to the ground .

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "Fire crews used two hosereel jets, two breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera to tackle the blaze. "The fire was extinguished at 9.55am.”
