The popular Thrumster Game and Countryside Fair returns on Saturday after a break due to Covid restrictions – all are welcome to attend the free entry event.

The event will feature the "extremely popular falconry display from Huntly Falconry centre, who always give a fantastic demonstration with their beautiful birds of prey", says event organiser Catherine MacLeod on behalf of the fair committee.

The Thrumster Estate area livestock show has increased entries this year – giving those who maybe aren’t stalwarts on the livestock showing circuit a chance to try their hand at showing.

Other interactive activities on the day will include pet shows, terrier racing, ferret racing, butchery demonstration with Ardgay Game. The countryside rangers will also be on the field for free activities arranged for the children. There will be local food stands and producers.

Living History will be there with Yarrows Heritage Trust to do archaeological displays and interactive activities with a focus on the finds from the nearby Swartigill dig.

"We'll have the Vintage Machinery Club and individuals displaying too," said Ms MacLeod. "We're also delighted to have John Harold and Armadale Clay Target Club back to manage our clay pigeon shooting."

Other highlights include archery from Caithness Archers. There will also be a dance in the main marquee at night so feel free to come along and enjoy your night from 8pm until 1am to the music of The Impact.

The organisers say that the event would not be possible without support from the funders and volunteers – funding from Lybster and Tannach Fund and the Tannach and District Fund.
