The couple celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary on February 7 and were sent a congratulatory card from King Charles III and Queen Camilla. The delivery of these royal messages is arranged by the Anniversaries Office at Buckingham Palace, and is a tradition which dates back to 1917.

Cards are sent to those celebrating their 100th and 105th birthday and every year thereafter, and to those celebrating their diamond wedding (60th), 65th, 70th wedding anniversaries and every year thereafter.

George and Sheena were married in the Church of Scotland manse on Miller Avenue in Wick on February 7, 1964 at 8am and went on to have a breakfast reception at the Rosebank Hotel in the town.

Their daughter, Tracey Miller, said that family celebrated the special occasion with a meal at the Smiddy Inn at Thrumster.
