Three deny attack on man in Wick street
A Wick trio is alleged to have punched and kicked a man in a local street, forced him to the ground and stamped on his head and body, to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement.
That is the indictment facing the three accused, Kyle Miller (22), described as a prisoner at Inverness Prison; Damon Mackay (31), of Huddart Street; and 22-year-old Abi Macleod, of Wellington Avenue, both Wick.
The attacks are said to have occurred in Dunnett Avenue, Wick, on October 8, last year. All three accused have entered pleas of not guilty.
Macleod was unable to appear at Wick Sheriff Court on Tuesday as she had tested positive for Covid and is self-isolating. However, she will require to provide medical verification for her condition.
The prosecution and defence are prepared for the trial and a joint minute of agreement between them is under consideration.
Due to the pandemic, which prevents Wick Sheriff Court from hearing multi-accused trials, the case will be remitted to Inverness Sheriff Court and the trial will proceed before a jury on a date yet to be fixed.
