Pupils to learn exam results today

CAITHNESS pupils will be among the thousands of young Scots receiving their exam results today.

Around 145,000 pupils sat Nationals, Highers and Advanced Highers this year.

The message is that whatever those results might be, pupils and their parents should not panic. Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is urging people to call the exam results helpline on 0808 100 8000.

SDS’s operations director, Danny Logue, said: “People may have done better than they anticipated or not achieved the results they hoped for but the message is that there are options and they, and their parents, shouldn’t panic.

“The first step is to call the helpline and discuss all of the options that are available and there are lots of options open to them.”

As well as the helpline, advisers will be on hand for a number of Twitter Q&As @mywowscotland to help young people access information and support.

SDS’s Facebook page will feature answers to common problems and links to other education bodies to help make sure their next move is a good one.

The helpline, now in its 22nd year, will be open from 8am until 8pm on August 5 and 6 and then from 9am until 5pm until August 13.

Advisers will be available to offer information on UCAS course vacancies at UK colleges and universities, confirmation and clearing, advice on modern apprenticeship and training opportunities and exam resits.
