Small businesses have been told by Kate Forbes not to panic in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.

The SNP MSP for for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, who is Scotland's finance secretary, has said her email inbox is inundated with people worrying about the deadline for applications to the non-domestic rate grants scheme for those affected by coronavirus shut downs.

In a tweet, Ms Forbes said: "A lot of people panicking in my inbox about the deadline for business support grants being tomorrow [Tuesday] – it’s not, it’s March 31, 2021, next year."
