Loganair to keep six-day service for winter after passenger numbers at Wick Airport rise

THE number of passengers using the direct route between Wick and Edinburgh airports has risen significantly compared to last year.

Loganair announced that it has seen a 20 per cent increase in the numbers using the service between Caithness and the capital.

As a result of the figures, Loganair said it is set to continue its six-day service throughout the winter months.

Roger Hage, Loganair’s director service delivery, said that it is delighted to continue providing a service which meet the needs of the area.

"The growth in passenger numbers shows that the link between these two destinations is a valuable one, so we are pleased to confirm that it will continue into the winter season," he said.

"This service reinforces Loganair’s commitment to the region and ensures that the communities in Caithness remain well connected, as well as helping to sustain the area’s ongoing progress in becoming a centre for business development."

Last year, Loganair became the only operator at Wick Airport to fly on a Sunday, which has been a major factor in the increase in passengers.
