SIR – On behalf of the Hogmanay in Thurso committee, we would like to thank everyone who supported us with this year’s street party.

The Chicken Pickers, who were outstanding, kept the crowd dancing and singing until 1am in what was their last performance. Robbie Campbell was our piper and not only did he pipe in the New Year but he joined the Chicken Pickers for their last few songs, which provided a fitting finale to the night’s entertainment.

Our MC for the night, George Dunnett, also did a fantastic job.

Thanks to everyone who turned up on the night to have a good time and who donated at the barriers. We raised £1659 which will go entirely towards the 2014

To the volunteers who helped set up, steward and clean up after the party, a huge thank you. We are only a small committee of volunteers and rely on the support of the community to put this event on every year, so if anyone fancies getting involved and helping with the next event, please just get in touch.

All of you have helped to make the street party the success that it is, and we look forward to your continuing support. It is now time to start organising the next one and we already have some very exciting news which will be announced soon. Keep checking Facebook for details, and hope to see you all at the next street party.

Fiona Robertson-Hindle,

Secretary,

HIT committee,

38 Church Street,

Halkirk.
