MEMBERS of Highland Council's tenant participation team will be in Caithness for three days at the end of November as part of a month-long tour around communities. They will be talking to tenants about what their rent money is spent on and consulting on the rent they will pay in 2020/21.
The itinerary includes Lybster and Thrumster on November 26; Wick and Keiss on November 27; and Watten, Castletown, Thurso and Halkirk on November 28.
A timetable for when they will be in your area can be found on the council's website at www.highland.gov.uk/rentconsultation
A consultation paper has been sent out to all council house tenants.
The chairman of care, learning and housing committee, Councillor John Finlayson, said: “This consultation provides an excellent opportunity for tenants to have more of a say on how their rent is spent and managed, therefore it is important that as many people as possible take part and share their views with us.”
The Housing (Scotland) Act 2001 requires social landlords to consult tenants and take account of their views when making decisions about proposed rent increases.
