Riverside House Care Home in Wick has created its own little high street style shop for the use of its residents and officially opened its door yesterday.

Wur Wee Shoppie, as it is called, allows the residents to have a traditional shopping experience in a purpose-built unit within the home.

Donna Grant, care home manager, said: "Our residents can now go to the shop to get items such as newspapers, cards, toiletries, snacks and juice.

"It has been a long time since they have been able to go out due to the Covid pandemic, so we have built 'Wur Wee Shoppie' inside."
