The Trinkie outdoor swimming pool near Wick will hopefully secure more funds to help in its repair after last year's storm damage.
Following Storm Babet in October 2023, the pool suffered major damage to its main wall and the Trinkie Heritage Preservation Group (THPG) has had a series of meetings to raise funds and submit funding applications for the repairs.
The THPG said the first step was to secure a structural report and the group's committee wants to "say a huge thank you" to Martin Sutherland from SSE for offering to fund that. This will be carried out by local Thurso firm Arch Henderson.
Catherine Patterson, THPG secretary, said: "This is a very generous offer of support and will be invaluable to the repair.
"If a successful repair can be completed, sooner rather than later, then 90 percent of the Trinkie will have been refurbished and should last for many more years.
"In the meantime, the committee has organised a gin tasting event on March 16 in Wick Rosebank pavilion and tickets can be purchased from the East Caithness Community Facility or Caithness Voluntary Group. All profits will go towards the repair of the Trinkie."
The Times published an article last summer in which the Trinkie outdoor pool near Wick was highlighted as one Britain's best sea swimming pools.
The report by Rhiannon Batten, published in July 2023, was called 'Seven of the best sea swimming pools' and the outdoor attraction on the south of Wick Bay appeared as number three out of seven locations.
