Support available for heart failure patients
A DROP-in session to support those living with heart failure in Caithness is being held this week.
An informal gathering open to sufferers and their carers is being held tomorrow from 10am-12pm at Caithness Horizons in Thurso while a patient and carers’ meeting is also being staged at the Pulteney Centre in Wick from 2-4pm where Professor Stephen Leslie, consultant cardiologist at Raigmore, will talk about cardiac services in the Highlands.
The events are being organised by Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland’s cardiac and respiratory support service in partnership with NHS Highland.
Local co-ordinator June MacLeod said: “We hope that the drop-in sessions and patient and carer meetings will offer social support to people with heart failure and their carers in the area. It will give people the chance to come together and share their experiences, discuss thoughts and build new friendships. We hope this will help them manage their condition, live well with heart failure and feel encouraged without the need to travel far.
“We look forward to welcoming you to the drop-in session and the patient and carers’ meeting. We intend to run these bimonthly throughout the year.”
