Tesco community champion Karen Center said: "Our local food bank came along over the three days Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It was a great success with around £500 being donated by kind customers and colleagues.

"Our overall total in trays was 238, which is amazing. With this Tesco will add 20 per cent to the total, so again our local food bank will benefit."

Karen was accompanied by colleagues Colin Banks, Greg Gunn and Paul Hughes in delivering the food trays to Sinclair Terrace where Grant and Pat Ramsay, chairman and vice-chairwoman of Caithness Foodbank, were supported by two volunteers to unload the dot-com vans.

The Caithness Foodbank chairman said a "huge thank you to people in the Caithness community for their generosity and support".

Pat Ramsay added: "Our food bank volunteers have worked tirelessly to sort out the donations and our shelves are fully stocked for the festive period and the months ahead."
