Some of the children who won medals and certificates at Wick Library’s summer reading challenge are pictured with librarian Ruan Peat and councillors Nicola Sinclair and Willie Mackay, who handed over the awards. This year’s theme was Space Chase.

Councillor Mackay said: "This is a fantastic scheme which is run by High Life Highland. It is a great pleasure to see young children getting into reading at an early age.

"It gives them great encouragement and I applaud High Life Highland for its involvement in this initiative."
