Subsea 7 towhead structures to be transported through Wick
Three large towhead structures are due to be transported through Wick over the coming week as part of a Subsea 7 contract.
They are destined for a 7.67km pipeline bundle being fabricated at the company’s Wester site.
The contract, awarded through the Subsea Alliance, is for the Aker BP Yggdrasil project. The final offshore installation location will be the Yggdrasil field in the northern North Sea.
The structures are scheduled to be moved over the course of three days between this Sunday and next Saturday.
As with previous Subsea 7 movements through Wick, no-parking cones have been set out on streets along the route from the north side of the harbour and some lampposts have been adjusted to allow the structures to get past.

In a note delivered to local residents, Subsea 7 said: “Please be advised that Global Port Services are planning to move three towhead structures for the bundle project currently being fabricated by Subsea 7 at Wester site, over three days between Sunday, June 15, and Saturday, June 21 (dates and times are subject to weather and police availability).
“Traffic cones will be set out along the route the day before each move… This indicates that we require all vehicles to be totally clear from these streets for the following morning.
“We thank you for your continued cooperation and patience.”
