TEN men are halfway through a 300-mile rowing challenge between Caithness and the Faroe Islands.

The Ocean Row Event team have had to tackle adverse wind conditions which resulted in them falling behind schedule in their bid to row from Scrabster to Torshavn.

The crew set off from Scrabster last Friday and were travelling well until the halfway stage when strong winds forced them to return to Stromness.

Skipper Livar Nysted and his team were able to set off again on Thursday and are now at the halfway stage where they hope to continue their journey uninterrupted to the Faroese capital which they are expected to reach on Sunday.
