WINDS of up to 55mph that have battered the Caithness coast have resulted in the cancellation of ferry services on Friday.

Northlink cancelled four of its sailings between Stromness and Scrabster on Friday with the 6.30am and 11am service from Orkney and 8.45am and 1.15pm service from Caithness dropped

The company said it expected its 4:45pm sailing from Stromness and 7pm sailing from Scrabster to operate to schedule with slight delays possible.
