Pupils from a Thurso school took part in National Storytelling Week earlier this month by reading to residents at a nearby care home.

The P6 children from Pennyland Primary entertained the residents at Pentland View Care Home with a reading session.

The pupils took books from school and were paired up with residents who enjoyed listening and reading alongside the children.

P6 class teacher Fiona Parnell said that the connection between the different generations was lovely to see and it is hoped this will continue as the class plans to visit the care home again at the beginning of March.

On that visit, they will hear the first-hand experience of an evacuee from World War II who experienced the Blitz in London – a story which ties in with the children’s P6 project at school.
