North MP Jamie Stone has spoken out after reports that visitors have been escaping to their second homes in the Highlands during the coronavirus pandemic.

Despite strongly worded calls from politicians and others in recent weeks telling visitors to stay away, Mr Stone says it has emerged that some have still decided to travel to the region.

"We cannot have one rule for the rich and one rule for the rest," said the Liberal Democrat MP for Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross.

"I intend to find out how the lucky lot with holiday properties in the Highlands continue to make their way to the far north, rather than stay at home and save lives.

"No-one should be holidaying at all. Many of the most vulnerable among us are sacrificing time with our loved ones and respecting the government guidelines. It is a disgrace that people continue to fly in the face of these hardships."
