A MAN who was found on fire in a street in Wick has died from his injuries.

Northern Constabulary today confirmed the identity of the male as Stewart Scollay (43) who lived in the town’s Smith Terrace.

Mr Scollay was found in Huddart Street with his clothes on fire last Tuesday at 4.30pm.

Construction workers at the Pulteneytown People’s Project community centre rushed to the man’s aid to put the flames out.

Emergency services were called to attend to Mr Scollay who was taken to Caithness General Hospital in Wick. He was later airlifted to the specialist burns unit at Glasgow Royal Infirmary but died from his injuries on Thursday evening.

Mr Scollay’s next of kin have been informed.

Northern Constabulary has said it is unclear how the incident was caused but does not believe there are any suspicious circumstances.

A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.
