A group of Caithness swimmers celebrated International Women's Day last week with a buffet lunch and wild swim.

The Staxigoe Selkies have been gathering for dips for nearly two years now and are in the water every day throughout the year, weather permitting.

Along with the celebrations, the ladies also raised £90 for Caithness and Sutherland Women's Aid (CASWA).

Caron Jones, described as the group's inspiration, knitted each of the swimmers their own toy mermaid to mark the occasion.

Spokeswoman Anne Campbell said there are up to 16 swimmers in the water each day at Staxigoe Harbour. She said it is a wonderful experience for mental health benefits and that people with auto-immune diseases and skin conditions also benefit.
