AN expert on comets will be visiting Caithness next week to pass on his expertise to avid listeners.

Denis Buczynski, the secretary of the British Astronomical Association’s comet section, is this month’s guest speaker at the Caithness Astronomy Group.

His talk – Comets and the Amateur Astronomer in the Digital Age – will cover what comets are; how they appear in the sky; and how astronomers can observe and take pictures of them.

The free talk is in the Castlehill Heritage Centre in Castletown on Friday, May 9, at 7pm.

There will be a short observing session on the night if weather permits and children are welcome if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
