A large part of the Pulteneytown side of Wick was plunged into darkness last night due to a fault that affected over 400 households for nearly three hours.

A SSEN spokesperson said: “Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) was alerted to a fault at 19:17 on Thursday, 1 December, affecting 439 customers in Wick.

“Engineers carried our repairs on the overhead network to replace the faulty pole box at the Coast Guard station transformer and all customers were restored back to power by 22:09.

“SSEN apologises for any inconvenience this fault may have caused and thanks its customers for their patience while repairs were safely carried out.”
