Sparky offers reward after store break-in

A WICK-based electrician is offering a £250 reward for information about a break-in at his store.

Robert Bremner, of Bremner and Findlater Electrical Contractors, is keen to find out what happened at his Rutherford Street premises while he was away on business on Tuesday.

Mr Bremner returned from his trip on Wednesday morning to find the back garage door had been broken into.

“They broke in the back door and they burst the up-and-over garage door that I had locked from the inside with a catch at the top,” the electrician told the John O’Groat Journal.

“It wasn’t kids because the door wasn’t even marked – there’s not a scratch on it. It seems like it’s been pried open with a bar or something.”

Mr Bremner reckons he got lucky after the door jammed, denying the would-be thieves access to his tools and equipment.

Northern Constabulary is appealing for information regarding the incident.

Police in Wick would like to hear from any members of the public who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area between 4pm on Monday and 11am on Wednesday.

“I was here Monday afternoon and I was off down the road on Tuesday for a job,” said the sparky.

“I didn’t come back to the store until Wednesday morning and that’s when I noticed it.”

Anyone with any information is urged to contact police in Wick on 01955 603551.

Information can also be left confidentially on Crimestoppers – 0800 555111.
