With Halloween coming up soon, Forse of Nature will be hosting Spooky Music sessions for families with young children on Thursday, October 20.

Having sold out both morning and afternoon sessions, an additional event at 12.30pm has just been added and is now taking bookings.

Early childhood music educator Fiona Murray from Windsong Studio, Bower, says she is flattered to be invited to bring her music programme to Forse for the day. "It's an exciting opportunity to bring my early years music classes across the county and introduce the Play Away Music programme to new families in the beautiful autumnal surroundings of Forse."

Collaborating with Ellie Sheales, from Forse of Nature, the pair are optimistic the school holiday events may lead to future theme-based music making sessions on site for families with young children throughout the seasons. With the woodland trail, café and shop open there's plenty on offer for a day out.

Launched on Thursday next week, the programme includes 45-minute music making sessions suitable for families with babies, toddlers and preschoolers up to age five. There will be a variety of familiar songs; plenty of child safe percussion instruments; Halloween props; along with some of Fiona's own research-based songs and rhymes.

"It's spooky music, but nothing scary," says Fiona. "For example, playing The Addams Family with rhythm sticks and a spooky dance with a giant stretchy circle.

"I've written a pumpkin counting rhyme and we'll be stirring up a witches brew with wooden spoons and a stack of cauldrons. There'll be around 12 Halloween music-making activities, but I won't give away all the surprises until the day."

Forse of Nature has a Facebook page with more info at: www.facebook.com/forseofnature.scotland/

The sessions cost £5 per child or £7.50 for two siblings. Families interested in booking a place for the 12.30pm session can email windsongstudiobower@gmail.com or call the studio on 01955 661223 for details. All other sessions are full.
