Society of Caithness Artists holds AGM and reflects on successes and future shows

The Society of Caithness Artists (SCA) held its AGM at the Pentland Hotel on Tuesday, April 11 and saw a good turnout of people attend.

Chair Ian Pearson reported on recent activities which included a very successful exhibition called Spring at the Thurso Art Gallery. He informed the meeting of an upcoming exhibition to be held at the North Coast Visitor Centre based on the theme of Celebration and will show work by 18 members of the Society. This exhibition will open on May 12 and finish on August 12.

The meeting heard arrangements for this year's annual exhibition are on schedule and will take place, as last year, in the ETEC building of the Thurso campus of UHI. Handing in day for artists' work is Saturday July 22 with the exhibition open from July 24 until August 4.

The current SCA committee was elected for 2023 – 2024 and are as follows: Euan Ferrier, Jackie Newton, Willie Wallace, Elaine Rapson-Grant, Shelagh Swanson, Penny Irvine and Valerie Barker. Office bearers elected are – Jean Mackay, treasurer; Elizabeth Lay, secretary; Don Clarke, vice chair; and Ian Pearson chair.
