A CAITHNESS seafood company is gearing up to expand its operation.

Scrabster-based JPL Shellfish, which was established in 1992, has clients throughout the UK and in ten countries overseas. The company, whose payroll has increased from six to 32, is embarking on its latest expansion to keep up with the demand for its range of products, which include live lobster and crab, mussels, langoustines and lemon sole. The business is run by husband and wife John and Christina Logue.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) has been working with JPL to develop further growth opportunities and has awarded the company a grant of £60,000 which will allow it to increase its workforce. The expansion will also see increased storage capacity, extension of the processing area and enhanced packaging facilities.
