SEVERE weather has sparked the cancellation of some rail services in Caithness and Sutherland.

ScotRail has warned that the 10.41am Inverness to Wick service will terminate at Tain and will no longer call at stations beyond that.

And the 12.34pm Wick to Inverness service has been cancelled entirely.

The rail operator has cited "severe weather" as the reason for the disruption and comes amid widespread disruption elsewhere on the Scottish network, where flooding has closed key lines such as Aberdeen-Edinburgh near Montrose.
