A 'serious' two-vehicle crash has closed the B876 Wick to Castletown road, police have announced.

The collision occurred at around 9.50am on Sunday morning at the junction with the B870.

"Emergency services are at the scene," said a police spokesperson. "Drivers are urged to use an alternative route."

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said that two of its appliances from Wick were called to attend shortly before 10am. They added that the vehicles' occupants were out of the vehicles by the time the appliances arrived at the scene. The SFRS said its crews were still on site at the time of writing (11.15am) and were helping to make the scene safe.

No other information was immediately available.
