Five young men and their coach, from a Wick-based boxing club, had their locks shorn short at a sponsored event and raised over £1500.

Caithness Boxing Club (CBC) held the sponsored head shave to raise funds for the club in March. Coach Richard Thurling and club members Kian Young, Koby Stewart, Kieran Houston, Ewan Donald and Ben Bremner braved the clippers. Together with a cake stall, supported by family and friends of the club, a total of £1572 was raised.

Coach Richard Thurling said: "To have your head shaved as a teenager is a big thing, it shows true commitment, and by raising funds through sponsorship they are supporting the club. I'm really proud of these boys."

CBC says its aim is to "promote the sport, change lives, the community and create opportunities".
