Seaview House care home in Wick to start monthly dementia café
A Wick care home is to start a monthly dementia café with members of the public, including relatives and friends of past and present residents, invited to attend.
The free sessions will take place at Seaview House on the last Thursday of each month, starting on June 27, between 2pm and 4pm.
The idea behind the dementia café is that it will provide short respite and social support, with guests having a chance to meet carers supporting those living with dementia. They will also be able to meet the team at the home to discuss any questions they might have about care.
Gayle Magennis, general manager at Seaview House, said: “We’re really looking forward to making more friends in our local community.
“The condition itself can be quite lonely and frightening and the more support we can provide to each other, the better.

“If anyone is unable to make it on the day but would like to pop in for a tour and a cup of tea, our doors are always open.”
Seaview House is run by Barchester Healthcare. The home provides residential, nursing and dementia care for 41 beds.
